St. Bernard Financial Assistance - Board of Total Education Philosophy
It is our desire to make a St. Bernard education affordable to all students.
One means employed is a financial assistance program for families unable to
pay the full cost of tuition. To apply for financial aid a family must:
1. Return the completed enrollment form to St. Bernard with a $10.00 non-refundable
enrollment fee.
2. Return the completed financial assistance application form with a 1040
tax form by June 1, 2003, to the School Business Office.
Families receive notification of St. Bernard assistance in summer. All questions regarding financial assistance should be directed to the Principal (920-468-5026).
Facts about Financial Assistance
Fact #1: St. Bernard is able to award limited financial assistance each year to families who otherwise would not be able to send their children to a Catholic elementary school. This aid is made possible through the generosity of both parish and school organizations and the generosity of individuals.
Fact #2: Applications for assistance are held in strictest confidence. Students receiving financial assistance are never identified in any way to anyone. The details of your agreement with the school remain with the School Principal and/or the School Board Treasurer.
Fact #3: Applications for assistance will be completed honestly, accurately, and timely. It is expected that any applicant will provide honest and complete information and will do so in accordance with all stated deadlines. If, for any reason, it is determined that an applicant provided misleading or materially inaccurate information, St. Bernard reserves the right to rescind any existing award and deny any future application requests.
Fact #4: Each application is individually considered on its own merit. St.
Bernard does not apply a fixed scale or formula to determine financial need.
Your 1040 tax return, application for assistance, and any other documentation
you provide are considered carefully in determining how much assistance your
family will need in order to afford a Catholic elementary school education.
Variables that are considered, if you supply the information, are:
· Other children in Catholic school
· Family medical bills
· Recent change in job status of parent
· Parent in school
· Single parenthood
· Recent divorce
· Costly special needs of the student
Fact #5: Your financial assistance offer is "somewhat" negotiable.
When you receive your offer of financial assistance in early summer, if you
will not be able to afford the amount left for you to pay, you may accept
the original offer and also request that your case be reconsidered. In doing
so, it is important, of course, for you to provide further documentation to
support your request. There is no guarantee that additional assistance will
be provided.
